Old Wulfrunians 2 – 2 Finchfield
The game started on a sad note, with much loved club member Glynn Thomas’s Wife sadly passing away at the weekend, both teams gave a minutes silence in support for Glynn and his family at this difficult time.
Old Wulfs started with a new formation this week, in preparation for next season, with the hope of being more structured and compact in the midfield, whilst adding plenty of opportunity to spread the ball out wide to the wingers. The game started in a good competitive fashion, as Finchfield put out their 1st team. Both teams creating chance with a high tempo game and both keepers making early saves. But it was Old Wulfs that took the lead through the hard work of Griff and Will up front earning a short corner, which Mark slotted into the bottom corner. But before the end of the 1st half Finchfield pulled level.
The 2nd half continued at the same tempo as the first, but with Finchfield creating more of the chances and Old Wulfs having to defend for the opening 15 minutes of the 2nd half. But Old Wulfs again took the lead, through a very cool finish from Ben Hart to make it 2-1. Finchfield pulled level thorugh a short corner, but had to take three attempts to score it and needed some good fortune to be awarded their third short corner, when the ball hit Ablards hand. Old Wulfs could have taken all 3 points when just before the end a ball from the back found Birch in Space who set up Hart, but the his shot on target was just wide. A well deserved point for Old Wulfs, which keeps them 3rd in the Table with two home games remaining.
