Blossomfield B's 1 - 8 Old Wulfs

With most players having not played for at least 6 weeks, Old Wulfs were expecting a challenging evening in Solihull. The team lined up with 3-5-2 formation and decided to pack the midfield and go for the attack. Whilst the first chance of the game went to the home side, pulling a save out of Colin, Old Wulfs scored with their very first attack, some neat passing in the midfield found Tutton on the left who cut inside passed across the top of the D to find Litchy, who calmly slotted the ball in to the bottom corner. In shock from what was a lovely flowing move, Old Wulfs switched off and allowed the home side to score from the restart, slotting the ball through Colin's legs. Despite this set back Old Wulfs stuck to the game plan and were clinical with their finishing as they blew their opposition away. Griff scoring the 2nd Old Wulfs goal after Ablard drove through the midfield and slid the ball perfectly to Griff to strike into the goal. The 3rd followed from a Wilson short corner, dragging the ball into the bottom left corner. Number 4 came from a quick taken free hit as Ablard passed to Birchy who struck the ball in the box, where Kram deflected the ball onto the underside of the cross bar and in? Goal line technology required. As the ball was attempted to be cleared Tutton pounced and made sure it was a goal by putting the ball into the roof of the goal. Shortly after that Griff got his second after another good passing move scoring into the roof of the net and the last goal of the first half came after Tutton found space on the right and shot at goal, as the ball looked to be going wide back door Dave Cartwright smashed the ball into the roof of the net. If you've lost count that's 6-1 to Old Wulfs at half time.

Birch's Half time team talk was the easiest he will ever have, more of the same please was the message. For the majority of the second half Old Wulfs controlled the game, but didn't threaten as much, tiredness and change of positions the most likely factor. In the last 15 minutes Old Wulfs closed the game out with 2 more goals, 7-1 came when Litchy drove into the D and the ball bobbled up and from an acute angle Birch swivelled and struck the ball into the goal off the underside of the cross bar. 8-1 came as Ben Humperson stepped in front of his marked passed the ball up the line and carried on his run, the ball then drilled into the D where Ben, then controlled and smashed into the top corner. The home team did carve out some of their own opportunities but we're stopped every time by Colin or defenders covering.
