Match Report

Old Wulfrunians 6 - 2 Sutton Pirates. With a comfortable win the previous week, Old Wulfs thought they were in for a similar game after seeing their opposition for the night being beaten heavily the week before. However Old Wulfs made a mountain out of a mole hill. With a few changes of players due to unavailability and a re shuffle in formation Old Wulfs looked disjointed and at times all at sea. Despite the lack of structure throughout the game, Old Wulfs were clinical in their finishing, much owed to the forwards. Mark Wilson opened the scoring with a route one drag flick, straight over the keepers head. 2 - 0 shortly followed when Griff slotted home after a short spell of sustained Old Wulfs pressure. Gaps between the midfield and the defence left the back 4 and Luke exposed and Sutton got a deserved goal back. A short corner strike from Dave Ward restored Old Wulfs 2 goal lead, which was then extended by an Ed Hole goal. 4-1 at half time. The second half saw much replication of the first in that Old Wulfs played well at times, but when through phases of not being able to keep possession and make accurate passes or make the correct choice, of which Birch kindly displaced through out the game. Griff got his second of the game mid way through the second half making it 5-1 before Sutton replied with one of their own to make it 5-2. Hayden finished off the goal scoring to run out 6-2 winners. A very average display from Old Wulfs over all, but special mentions for an outstanding goal keeping display from Luke Archer and great display from George Jandu, who both put in a hard shift. Old Wulfs could have scored more if it wasn't for Griff's jug avoidance and some great saves by Luke. Man of the match: Ben Humpherson
