Old Wulfs 2-1 Leamington

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! WE ARE SAFE*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After last week’s disappointment against Wolverhampton the 2s went into the game against Leamington knowing that a win would guarantee our safety* and that a defeat would leave us staring relegation in the face. To be completely honest, our performance didn’t live up to the occasion. In a scrappy game we struggled to put away our chances, the best example of this being when three Old Wulfs players found themselves five yards from goal without a defender in sight, yet still somehow managed not to score. We finally went ahead half way through the second half, when Hemmings scored from a short corner at the second attempt. Soon afterwards we doubled the lead, a quick passing move eventually giving Satchwell space in the D to … let me think … pass? ... Yeah, I’m feeling generous, he ‘passed’ to Tibble at the back post for an easy tap in. It definitely wasn’t just a really poor attempt at a shot. Honest. With five minutes to go we conceded a flick which gave Leamington a lifeline, but we controlled the game after that to secure the win. A poor performance but a priceless victory, and we can now start to look forward to improving our performances and league position next season*.
