For the second time this season we fought out a 3-3 draw with a young Ludlow side.
We started poorly, and in a state of disarray went behind early on, but Birch levelled with a penalty stroke.
After a mixed first half the scores were level at 2-2.
We took the lead with the goal of the game converted at the back post by an improving Steve Beatty. As we began to wilt in the heat there was an intense spell of Ludlow pressure spearheaded by their trixy skipper. They finally and deservedly equalised, and should have sealed a win with a penalty stroke when Cartwright played football on the goal line. Unfortunately the home side had forgotten to provide an umpire and the sole official was in the wrong position to see it. Tragic.
It has been a very encouraging summer league season - 4 wins, 4 losses and 2 draws. What's more important is the level of performance and effort which has been consistently high despite some oppressive weather. Thanks to everyone who played, and apologies to those who would have liked to play more but I couldn't fit you in.
Plenty to look forward to in the new season - see you then!
