Well you don't get many 11 goal thrillers in our division but this was one.
Wolverhampton started strongly and pinned us back winning a few shorts but we resisted and caught them on the break with a goal from Jandu for 0-1. Another breakaway led to a short and saw Minton score on the rebound from the 1st shot for 0-2. Now it gets a bit hazy but a bouncing shot from a Wolves short hit a defender and the resulting flick was scored for 1-2. Pressure from Wolves saw them score a rebound from a short for 2-2. We broke again and Minton scored again from a short for 3-2. Wolves scored again following another defensive error for 3-3. Right at halftime we conceed from a short for 4-3.
From the restart we played better and the game became very open. Thompson scored with a trademark finish for 4-4. Wolves got the upper hand again and went 5-4 up from a 2nd flick. We pressed and created some good chances eventually the ball broke to Lait who calmly slapped in for 5-5. Wolves pressed us back again and an error at the back saw a speculative wolves cross deflected onto the post and end up at a forward who tapped it in for 6-5. The final few minutes saw us throw caution to the wind and we made Wolves fight for the win. Right at the death we won another short which the Wolves keeper somehow managed to smuggle round the post.
We lost 6-5 in what was a well umpired game played hard but in a great spirit, just how it should be.
