This week Wulfs entertained Lichfields 6ths, who were on a high after after their 7-0 win last week.
After 2 minutes Lichfield had scored their first goal of the game. This was followed up their second despite an intial 1 v 1 save by Saunders in goal. Pearson won our first peanlty corner of the game with a great drive down the left hand side of the pitch - Mann, with a straight strike, scored and reduced the defecit to only one goal.
Walls (Tom and Ben), Murry and Johnson worked endlessly in midfield to break down numerous Lichfield attacks. Despite this Lichfield had added a further 3 to make the score 5-1 at half time.
Throughout the second half, Lally used his aerial ability to relieve the constant pressure from the Lichfield youngters. The second half was an uphill battle for everyone. Lichfield showed their true class by adding another 5 goals to make the scoreline a rather flattering 10-1 loss.
The scoreline isn't a fair reflection of the game. For large periods of the game, Wulfs dominated possesion and looked dangerous on the break. Everyone battled until the end and I have no doubt that this team will excel in the forthcoming season.
Special mentions go to; Lally(s) and Singh who stood strong and made Lichfield work extremely hard for their goals. Pearson was dominat in midfield and highlighted how well our development programme is working. Mann, regardless of how many times he took the ball to his legs, showed his resilence and natural ability to rip apart Lichfield's defence. However, man of the match goes to Steve Saunders for a brilliant performance in Old Wulfs goal.
Finally, Archer Jr for managing for the day while nursing an injury from last week's game for the 1sts.
