OW5 lined up against Stone4 looking to complete the 'double' but not expecting an easy game. Stone were competitive and the early exchanges were fairly even until in the 19th minute Phil Carless collected a ball from defence, made some ground and then placed an expert through ball behind the Stone defence that James Fisher latched on to, rounded the keeper and scored.
The game remained largely even up to half time with both teams trying to open up their respective defences without much success.
The second half began with OW in the ascendancy and we should have gone further ahead but for good saves by the Stone keeper. Defenders from both sides exchanged some 'long ball' play from free hits, with forwards unable to latch on to the ball. Both teams had further opportunities but were unable to convert them - the game finished 1 - 0 to Old Wulfs - mission accomplished!
