Old Wulfs 2nd team hosted Bromsgrove in a must win top of the table clash (spoiler alert....we didn't).
The day started with a strange incident which could only have been due to a case of invasion of the body snatchers, Sam Buckley not only turned up on time but was one of the first to arrive.
Back to the game, we started well, combining some confident passing around all parts of the pitch with some solid defending. However, as usual Bromsgrove didn't give us much time on the ball and this paid dividends for them when a very uncharacteristic mistake at the back meant the ball broke loose to the Bromsgrove forwards and they were able to finish to take the lead. (at this point I though it would be insensitive to tell everyone that Al Thompson was responsible so I won't)
The game continued to be well balanced with some good work in the middle from Louis and Roberts and some good carrying up front from Buckley. Following some good work by young Nightingale and some poor defending from the Bromsgrove defence the ball managed to find it's way to Tibble who apparently finished with a "cheeky little shot". In truth the ball came to him quick he flapped his stick and miraculously managed to hit it with reverse stick passed the keeper.
Half time - much talk of we can play better, they're not very good etc etc
2nd half we continued to press and did create a few opportunities that were either missed or saved by the keeper. However, the deciding goal came from a bit of a melee in our D when, after Cooper Jnr coolly paced the ball onto the attackers foot, the ball broke to the Bromsgrove forward who managed to hit the ball into the back of the net.
Cue much celebration from Bromsgrove and even more consternation from Old Wulfs that fell on deaf ears (you can't see em all).
There's always next week.
