North Staff 7 - 6 Old Wulfs Old Wulfs lined up against North Staffs for the first time this season with another changed side. Griff (kinky boots) was down in London, but were bolstered by the return of Ryan and Roberts. The first few minutes both teams were working each other out and the game was quite measured. North Staff won a short corner and it looked goal bound until Minton put his shoulder in the way, Penalty stroke awarded. Luke in goal did his best to stop the flick, however the North Staffs played was rather fortunate to score as his flick was partial saved by Luke 1-0. Undeterred by the score Old Wulfs pushed on and won a series of short corners all of which went in. Birch put two to the keepers left followed by one to the keepers right, all placed in the corners giving the keeper no chance. 1-3 to Old Wulfs. North Staffs shuffled their side around and came back into the game quickly and pressed Old Wulfs into a few mistakes, which were capitalised on. North Staffs skilful players took control and finished the half stronger with the score at 4-3 to North Staffs. North Staffs continued from where they left off and went 5-3 ahead. Old Wulfs immediately countered through Ablard to narrow the margin. A flurry of goals followed, however Old Wulfs were always playing catch up. Ryan continued his fine form in indoor to make the score 6-5 to North Staffs and Ben Humpherson doubled his indoor tally with a finely taken clip over the on rushing keeper to make the score 7-6 to North Staffs. Right at the death Old Wulfs have a short corner and following a double save from the keeper Ablard squeezed the ball in, however the umpires were unsure whether there had been a foul and ordered the short corner to be taken again, disallowing the goal. The retake was not scored and Old Wulfs lost 7-6. Colin made some fine saves to keep Old Wulfs in the game however North Staffs took their chances well and were fortunate to win.
