Old Wulfs 4 – 1 North Staffs
Old Wulfs lined up this week with a different team to normal. The team was missing Ben (“work”), Roberts (Wife’s Birthday), Dave C (AWOL) and Ryan (illness). However in stepped Sam Aldersley made his Debut for the team at indoor.
It took a while for the game to settle down with possession being shared evenly amongst the teams, but it was North Staff who struck early capitalising on an error from the back. The score remained the same until half time.
Old Wulfs were boosted by the fact that Al Brown had turned up on time this week and further reinforced by Luke making some good saves in goal and Colin Pearson putting in a workman like performance in attack. The come back began when Ablard scored from the short corner, stepping up to show everyone how it was supposed to be done. Ablard instructed Birch to inject, in which was a role reverse of the norm, and slotted the ball away into the bottom corner.
Colin was then in the right place at the right time to deflect in a pass from Sam and Minton made a darting run up the right to deflect a third in from Griff’s pass. North Staffs shell shocked were unable to contain Griff as he beat three players get into the D and score in off the post. 4-1 the final score.
This of course is how it would have gone if North Staffs had been able to raise a side; instead Old Wulfs turned up and prepared for their match against Telford 40 minutes later. Sorry Minton you’re still waiting for that goal. Final score a 3-0 walk over to Old Wulfs.
