A happy 2016 to you all.
The 4ths started the year home against Telford 4ths. Telford arrived with an experienced line-up.
Old Wulfs started the stronger of the two sides and created a series of chances. They converted when a Buckley through ball was met by O'Sullivan moments before being crunched by the oncoming keeper. Painful but still a 1-0 lead.
Wulfs continued to boss the play but against the run of play Telford won a short corner with their first attack. The short didn't go to plan for the attackers but somehow managed to convert.
Half time and its 1-1 in what had been a completely 1 sided half. The second half again had Wulfs dominating possession, however Telford stifled creativity by putting most of their side behind the ball. Wulfs worked hard to get around the wall of white. Buckley was unlucky first with a shot that just whizzed past the post and secondly with a lifted shot parried by the keeper and the cleared off the line by the last defender.
Lally earned a couple of short corners, but our routines weren't slick enough.
The deadlock was finally broken after some excellent work by Murray. He attacked the D and slid the ball to Lally, Murray continued his run and received a return pass at the far post. Murray eluded the keeper to tap in at the far post.
The margin could have been greater as Murray slid a cross to the on rushing O'Sullivan who was thwarted by a last ditch defensive tackle.
Good team performance all round.
