|Match Report|| Old Wulfs 4-3 Khalsa
Scorers: Daz Ablard, Ed Hole, Alex Gray, Ash Taylor
A bit of a strange one this week, as a Khalsa side without a keeper but with a national league central midfielder came to The Royal to take on the firsts.
We welcomed back Birch and Hole, but went behind after Birch forgot which side he was playing for, probably still thinking he was in Mexico and passed the ball to the national league midfielder who ran through and scored. An equaliser soon followed through Daz Ablard when he had the ingenious idea to LIFT the ball towards the goal rather than hitting it to the kicking back’s stick as our forwards had been doing. Ed Hole then scored after good build up play on the left hand side to give us a lead at the break. The start of the second half was poor, with two penalty corners allowing Khalsa to turn the game around, but Alex Gray’s reverse stick equaliser led to a frantic final ten minutes, with both teams looking to get the winner.
Luckily it was us who managed to convert a chance a couple of minutes from time, with a well worked penalty corner routine allowing Ash Taylor to run in front of the keeper and deflect the ball past him.
