Old Wulfs 0 - 4 Old Hales.
First game of summer league against strong opposition, who are used to playing 3 leagues above.
Old Hales played with a quick tempo moving the ball around with their players working hard on and off the ball. Old Hales carved opportunities frequently and within the first ten minutes Old Wulfs remained resilient. However the first goal of the game came from an Old Wulfs attack. Old Hales took their free hit quickly and countered with pace over loading the defence and slotting in at the back post not giving Colin a chance The score remained 1-0 till half time.
At half time it was clear to see that everyone was grateful for a breather and everyone felt a little rusty.
The second half started like the first with Old Hales pressing but this time scoring 2 quick goals. The first of the two a reverse stick strike which flew over an opposition player standing in front of Colin giving him little chance of seeing the shot till late. The second of the two was a mistake by an Old Wulfs player which was pounced upon. Colin expecting another great strike from a Old Hales player found this shot rather topped and it bobbled under him and in.
Old Wulfs kept trying to press and carve out chances but were unable to get a much deserved goal for their hard work. Old Hales capped off their game with a carbon copy of their first goal. Countering an Old Wulfs attack and finding a player at the back post for an easy tap in. 4-0 to Old Hales and no one could argue they didn't deserve it. A steep learning curve for Old Wulfs who will need to improve and build upon the good they produced with the addition of match fitness.
Man of the match by a landslide is Colin. Outstanding saves to keep the score line rather respectable.
