Old Wulfs 1st XI (3) vs. (3) Bloxwich
Darryl Ablard (1), Justin Thorpe (2)
18/02/2012 13:30
Sneyd community school, Vernon Way, WS3 2LU
Old Wulfs made a poor start to the game, making too many errors and trying to force difficult passes through players. Bloxwich took advantage of this and put away two goals in the first half – the second of which a slightly dubious nudge in from a lifted ball that was heading wide before the deflection. It was thus 2-0 to the home side at half time and Old Wulfs had to find a way back in to the game.
This was achieved immediately after the break when Daryl Ablard found himself in space at the top of the D from a Justin Thorpe through ball and neatly flicked the ball in to the roof of the net past a bewildered keeper who may have still been sucking on a half time slice of orange.
Bloxwich continued to press and scored a third goal from open play to put Old Wulfs further on the back foot. However, the fighting spirit was still strong and Old Wulfs continued to attack, winning several short corners in quick succession. Two of these were dispatched with thundering strikes from Coach JT to level the scoreline at 3-3. The game finished with Old Wulfs in the ascendancy, rueing several missed chances that would have given a vital 3 points in the hunt for promotion. On balance though, a draw was probably a fair result given the good-natured battle that had taken place.
Old Wulfs now look forward to two fixtures next week, Saturday at home to Evesham and Sunday the re-arranged home fixture against Kidderminster.

Worcester (7) vs. (0) Old Wulfs 3rd XI
18/02/2012 14:00
We took a side depleted by cryoffs to play a strong Worcester side. We held them to 2 goals in the first half but in the second they fared better to finish 7-0 up.
Young Andy Cooper was unucky to see our only real chance just go go wide of the upright.
Man of the Match - Steve Beatty with tireless performance in the middle.

Due to player shortages across the club we could only muster 8 players. Edgbaston had previously requested that their goal keeper could double up as they too were short. We advised the league secretary that we wanted to fulfil the fixture, but borrow some Edgbaston players, concede the match and play it as a friendly. So in the league table it is recorded as a 3-0 defeat, with no point deduction.
Edgbaston had a strong core to their team, and although at times our defence (or lack of) helped them succeed, they were a stronger team than us. The match started with a hail storm at 4:30 it didn't really get much better for us, we conceded 3 in the first half and 3 in the second.
The less said the better, next Saturday is another week!

Old Wulfs Badgers XI (0) vs. (2) Finchfield
18/02/2012 11:30
WGS
Old Wulfs Badgers took on a very strong and experienced Finch field side.
The game started with Old Wulfs having all the possession with some great one two passes through-out midfield. Ten minutes had passed and hail had appeared which gave Finch field badgers the opportunity to have several hard shots on goal, (but all remarkably saved by Luke). With half-time approaching Kai Thorpe, Ryan Harding and Sam Green were running rings around the oppositions adult, - who was controlling the entire game-.
We went into the second half 0-0 striding to get our second win of the season, However luck wasn't our way, after conceding a long corner the ball was hit across the 'D' to Adam Aldersley who was physically barged by the Finch field badger to tap into goal.
With time on the essence, Old Wulfs defence (Gordon, Kieran and Sam) wouldn't let a ball get past them with some great hits up field.
Getting closer to the end of the game Finch field had a break through giving Luke the chance to come out and demolish their strongest attack , consequently they got the re-bound and scored.
Two minutes to go and Old Wulfs conceded another short corner, However Kieran Patel stopped the ball on the line and hit it away from danger, (the best stop I have seen in ages).
A great match from all the lads, and let's try and get a win against North Staffordshire badgers.
Man Of The Match: Ryan Harding and John Murry.
